Day 3: Thu 22 Aug - Cape Town

5 (feels like 2) - 17 deg C, a lovely sunny day, but windy
Walk: 7km

I was awake at 2am thinking it must be at least 4am! Managed to get back to sleep until the real 4am, but that was it, no more sleep, even though I felt I needed it. Got up, made a coffee and rang Greg.

I tried to keep buys by re-packing my two suitcases so I could leave one here at the hotel until I check-in again on 28 Aug for the congress. Took the heavy case down to reception and had breakfast. Back in my room, I pottered then sat down to write yesterday's blog and start todays. My cousin Debbie is picking me up at 12:30pm and I will stay with her for six nights, before returning for the congress.

With the temperature being so low, I waited a while for it to warm up and then went for a walk. Didn't go very far as the wind was very icy. Back in my room, I re-packed the photobook suitcase and took it down to the lobby to check it into the luggage room until I return on 28 Aug. Had another coffee, read my book, spoke to Greg, then it was time to pack up, check-out and wait for Debs to pick me up and she was spot on time. It took us about an hour to get home.

We had lunch and a chat, then I needed a nanna nap. Tried really hard to sleep, but couldn't so got up and unpacked my bags into a beautiful room with ensuite.

More chatting and catching up, dinner then bed, in preparation for an early start in the morning.

Chapmans Peak Drive
The road was built in the early 20th century and is carved into the cliffs overlooking the sea. The winding road is a marvel of engineering, with 114 curves and bends, each offering a breathtaking view of the seemingly endless Atlantic Ocean.

Day 27: Sun 15 Sep - Brisbane to Home, 280km (4hrs)
