Walk: 9km
Congress registration activation day today. Scan the QR code, print your name badge, attach lanyard, receive congress bag, job done. Saw a few other MEPS members at the registration desk so stopped for a bit of a chat. Back to the hotel for more admin.
About 11:30am Ann, Ulf and I went for a walk to see the streets of Cape Town. Ulf had been told that Loop and Long streets are the safest during the day, but to exercise caution at night, and not to stray too far from those streets. Well, we found ourselves in a not so salubrious part of town in trying to get to the Castle of Good Hope, the location of our MEPS dinner on Thursday night. We eventually made it there but couldn't get any really good photos. It was easier to get back to the hotel from the Castle than it was to get there from the city.
Back at the hotel, I had a bit of downtime, including a 15 min nap. We met downstairs for dinner and happy hour at 5:30pm. Jane and Sylvain only got back from their meeting about 6:30pm after attending the Presidents Happy Hour.
An early night for all. We have to be at the Congress Centre about 2:20pm for a 3pm start tomorrow.
On a positive note, Peter arrived and is safely ensconced in his room for the night.

Castle of Good Hope, built in the 17th Century. Following restorations in the 1980s, it is considered the best preserved example of a Dutch East India Company fort. We are having dinner here on Thu night.
