Day 6: Sun 25 Aug - Cape Town

10-16 deg C, cloudy-sunny-cloudy-etc, and windy
5km

After breakfast, Andrew took Janice and I to watch Debby do her usual Sunday morning swim in the cold water at Miller's Point tidal pool. A few ladies had already swum, and there were three brave ladies that took their war clothes off to swim. Apparently the water was 'warm' and they all had a nice swim.

Off to Black Marlin restaurant at Miller's Point for Debby's birthday brunch. We all had eggs and bacon of some description and came away well fed; the coffee was not the best, however, one does not go for the coffee, rather the view from the restaurant. Unfortunately for us, it was still overcast, so the view was about as good as the coffee. I got to meet some of Debby's swim buddies and fellow home-school teachers who are all amazing women in what they do.

After brunch, Debby drove us around to see some more sights. We stopped at a farm stall selling mostly stone carvings with some wooden ones as well. Some of these carvings were very good however, too big to take back to Hippo Farm.

Slangkop lighthouse was next, with a very rough, but blue, Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. We wandered the boardwalk for a bit then continued to Forager's deli and wholefoods at Scarborough, for an afternoon cuppa or ice-cream. Last stop was at Imhoff Farm in the suburb of Kommetjie. This place consists of a number of eclectic 'shops' selling everything from ceramic jewellery to knick-knacks, beer and wine and free-range grocery items. It was about 3;30pm when we got home, so decided to have takeaways for dinner. After more chatting, Debby ordered the meals, Janice drove to the Rock Thai Sushi restaurant, and I paid. Good team effort. If we were not in the middle of a gated and security fenced golf estate, it would take less than five minutes to walk there, but took us about seven minutes to drive. The weather was still pretty nasty, so it was good to drive.

Another after-dinner chat by the fire, then bed.
